Monroe County Fire Rescue Station 07’s A shift serving @eywairport headed to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to participate in a live fire burn and aircraft training. They tackled various challenges, including a brake/wheel fire, nacelle fire, 3D fuel fire, and even an engulfed fuselage & multi-engine fire! Staying up to date on firefighting tactics and equipment is a part of #local3909 and @monroecountyfirerescue commitment to provide superior services to our community and visitors alike.

Today we celebrate Workers Memorial Day - Remembering those who have lost their lives or been injured on the job, and continuing the fight for safe working conditions for all.

More than 50 years ago on April 28, Workers Memorial Day, the Occupational Safety and Health Act went into effect, promising every worker the right to a safe job — a fundamental right.

The law was won because of the tireless efforts of the labor movement, which organized for safer working conditions and demanded action from the government to protect working people. Since then, unions and allies have fought hard to make that promise a reality—winning protections under the law that have made jobs safer and saved lives. But our work is not done.
Each day, more than 340 workers are killed and more than 6,000 suffer injury and illness because of dangerous working conditions.

This National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, we celebrate our incredible emergency communications professionals! 3909 members Lieutenant Perez and Firefighter/Paramedic Ondarza visited our dedicated dispatchers, bringing them some local treats from @babyscoffee to fuel their shifts.

Thank you to all the dispatchers for your tireless effort and training in answering our 911 calls. You juggle multiple requests, remain the calm voice in chaos, and ensure our safety every day. We appreciate you! 💙

This week, our firefighters and instructors attended the LFTI (Live Fire Training Instructors) class at the Joe London Training Academy. Hosted by Monroe County Fire Rescue and our MCFR Instructors/3909 members, the class brought together neighboring departments for an intensive training experience.

We’re proud to continuously enhance our skills and knowledge to better serve our community and train proficient firefighters.

Total of 1700 steps in full gear were taken to complete the climb and this year the Southernmost climbers placed first on the leaderboard.

@monroecountyfirerescue and the Monroe County Firefighters Benevolent Association is hosting their annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 23rd from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at the Big Coppitt Fire Station located at 28 Emerald Drive. The hunt will start promptly at 9:00 AM. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos, you can visit with Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm, and even help firefighters put out a house fire! We recently bid a heartfelt farewell to our brother, Firefighter Stan Webb. With 32 years dedicated to serving Monroe County, Stan’s legacy is one of unwavering commitment to our communities.

His journey began in 1984 as an EMT in Dade and Broward Counties, where he worked for private EMS until 1990. His path then led him to Monroe County EMS as a paramedic, laying the foundation for what would become Monroe County Fire Rescue. In 1999, Stan’s dedication saw him rise to the role of firefighter/paramedic, following his graduation from Monroe County’s Firefighter Standards Program. He devoted himself to serving the Florida Keys communities with distinction.

In 2013 he received his Airport Rescue Firefighter (ARFF) certification. Since then, Stan has served the citizens and travelers at the Key West International Airport, stationed at Monroe County Fire Rescue Station 7 until his recent retirement.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the neighboring departments for their overwhelming support during this time. Key West FD, NAS FD, @marathonfirefighters @islamoradafirerescue , Key Largo FD. Additionally, a heartfelt thank you to the local businesses whose contributions were invaluable in honoring Stan’s memory. Celebration of life catering provided by @gulfsouthernkeywest and funeral procession catering by @babyscoffee

Stan Webb’s legacy will forever be etched in our hearts and the communities he served. Rest in peace, our brother in service.”

Brother @kw_werner has arrived! Greeted by friends

Brother @kw_werner has arrived! Greeted by friends and family in Miami after riding over 600 miles on a bicycle.

The 2023 Ride, is dedicated to 28 Florida First Responders who died in the line of duty in 2022 while protecting their communities.

The ride began on October 27th in Naples, and the team honored them by cycling through the state of Florida for 9 days, covering over 600 miles and averaged 70-90 miles a day. The ride will concluded today on November 4th in Miami.

Brother Werner @kw_werner is representing Monroe County Fire Rescue for the second year in the row in Hervé's memory for the annual #brotherhoodride They are pedaling 650 miles starting in Naples going up and around Florida, ending in Miami.

The participants help bring emotional and financial relief to the families of the fallen, riding a year after their initial LODD to show that we still remember and we still care.
